筑波地方の笠間市稲田の採石場の黒雲母花崗岩には、採石場としては珍しく様々な大きさの包有岩類が分布する。これらは主に近傍の八溝層群の堆積岩類が取り込まれた"捕獲岩"である。一部にスカルン鉱物塊や空洞を伴う大理石塊などがあり、石灰岩も捕獲・変成されたことを示している。写真は柘榴石スカルンを緑色スカルン (ベスブ石＋緑簾石) が取り囲むもので、その更に外側の母岩部分が灰質斜長石化し白色を呈する。中心部の晶洞は方解石が埋める (左右22cm、タカタ百年館所蔵)。
