A typical outcrop of soil and weathered mantle in the northern Kanto Plain. From the top, andosoils (black, 0.3m), aeolian deposit (dark brown, 0.6m), Akagi-Kanuma pumice fall deposit (ochre, 0.7m), aeolian deposit (dark brown, 0.9m) and weathered sandstone of the Mesozoic Yamizo Formation are seen at Tomiya, IwaseTown, Ibaraki.
