Imayoshi Mineral Collection

The geological museum houses specimens that were once part of personal collections. Of these, the largest one is the Imayoshi Collection, which consists of more than 10,000 mineral specimens collected by Mr. Takaharu Imayoshi, who worked for the National Science Museum. The Imayoshi collection was donated to the Geological Museum in 1983, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Geological Survey of Japan. This collection is unique because it covers a wide range of items, especially major domestic minerals in Japan. The quality of the specimens is also high.
