The history of the earth (poster)

This is an illustration of the earth's 4.6 billion year-long history. The history of the earth is also a history of life itself, in which a variety of life forms appeared, prospered, and became extinct. The illustration is of the earth's chronological history with a long geological timeline based on the evolution and prosperity of these life forms. The timeline is on the left hand side of the illustration, while in the middle are individual timelines for various life forms from their appearance to their extinction, together with illustrations of the more prominent life forms. To the right are images of the earth's oldest rock from around 4 billion years ago, the oldest fossil from around 3.5 billion years ago, Japan's oldest rock from around 2 billion years ago, etc., as well as an illustration of continental drifts from the Cambrian Period to the current era. Information on specific rocks and fossils can be found in the next exhibit; The Time Tunnel.
