The Aoyagi Mineral Collection
This collection of mineral specimens belonged to the late Dr. Ryuji Aoyagi, a mineral collector, and was donated to the Geological Museum by his surviving family members in March, 2008. The collection is notable for its focus on beautiful, high-quality crystals from overseas. Other specimens include a number of pegmatite minerals from Dr. Aoyagi's time as a young mining engineer in the Ishikawa region of Fukushima Prefecture. Here are mineral specimens forming brilliant crystals in two rows of show cases. Do take a look up close, and enjoy the crystals' geometric beauty.
