半索動物 Hemichordates

 半索動物の現生種は90種ほどですが，いずれも硬い殻を持たないため，化石としてはほとんど知られていません．
 There are about 90 extant species of hemichordates, but few are known as fossils because none of them have hard shells.

筆石類 Graptolites

 筆石類はカンブリア紀に現れ，石炭紀に絶滅したグループで，示準化石として有用です．現生半索動物のフサカツギに近縁だと考えられています．
 Graptolites are a group that appeared in the Cambrian and became extinct in the Carboniferous and are useful as a index fossils. They are thought to be closely related to the extant pterobranchians.
