二枚貝類 Pelecypods (Bivalves)

 二枚貝類は，カンブリア紀に現れて現在も多くの種が認められるグループです．化石が多産し，地層の時代や堆積環境が推定できるので，重要です．体の左右にそれぞれ殻を持つので，二枚貝と呼ばれます．斧足類とも言われます．
 Bivalves are a group that appeared in the Cambrian and many species are still recognized today. Bivalves are important because they are abundant in fossil remains, allowing us to estimate the age and depositional environment of strata. They are called bivalves because they have a shell on each side of the body. They are also called pelecypods.
