刺胞動物 Cnidarians
刺胞動物は先カンブリア時代に現れた，サンゴ・イソギンチャク・クラゲなどを含むグループです．Cnidarians are a group that appeared during the Precambrian and includes corals, sea anemones, and jellyfish.
サンゴ類 Corals
サンゴ類は硬い石灰質の骨格を作るので，カンブリア紀以降の地層から多くの化石が見つかっていて，地層の時代を決める示準化石となります．地質時代を通じてサンゴ礁を形成してきました．サンゴ礁は石灰岩となって炭素を地中に閉じ込め，地球環境を変えるとともに，重要な地下資源ともなっています．Because corals form hard calcareous skeletons, many fossils of corals have been found in strata since the Cambrian, making them index fossils that determine the age of the strata. Throughout geologic time, corals formed coral reefs. Coral reefs have changed the global environment by trapping carbon in the earth's crust as limestone. Limestones are important underground resource.
