First Board meeting International Year of Planet Earth

Dear representatives of the IYPE National Committees

It is my pleasure to send you the Agenda of the first Board Meeting of the International Year of Planet Earth, to be held on 9 and 10 January 2007 in London, UK.

You are kindly invited to participate (as observer and at your own cost) in that meeting which will start with the informal opening of the IYPE triennium (2007-2009) and closed by the joint balloon launch on the occasion of the opening of the International Year triennium and the Commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the World's oldest Geological Society of London.

As you will notice from the Agenda, on the 9th of January during the formal meeting a time slot of 90 minutes is assessed for issues directly related to the IYPE National Committees, immediately after lunch. In addition, you may wish have a side meeting with representatives of the other IYPE National Committees. Such a meeting may be organised for example in the evening of the 9th, or in the early in the morning of the 10th of January. If there would be sufficient interest in such a side meeting the IYPE Secretariat will organise that.

Please let me know if you will attend the formal meeting and if you wish to participate in a side meeting with representatives of other National Committees as soon as possible, but not later than December 10th.
